Although I signed up to Google+, so far I have mostly sat back and watched everything unfold, from stories of it competing with Facebook, to introducing business apps and the controversy of deleting people’s accounts and asking for people’s real names – is this legitimate or is it all about targeting advertising for more money? Now things are starting to settle, I wonder if it will become a social platform that everyone uses, fade into the background, or simply act as supporting material to Facebook and Twitter.

A few weeks ago I attended an Intel Remastered workshop at the Design Museum. In short the Remastered project is “a new generation of artists and designers reimagine the masterpiece, using technology to create new visual experiences.” You can find details of all the final projects at the Remastered site.
Continue readingWhen you’ve written on a brand-new whiteboard with a permanent marker, and you’ve had the heart sinking realisation that it won’t rub off (and it’s in your hand-writing so there’s no getting away from it), simply trace carefully over the top of the writing in a normal white-board marker and then wipe it off, and hey presto the permanent marker disappears…

Using body control and voice activation, ads will be tailored to you, but just because we can develop technology like this does not necessarily mean it’s always a great idea. Do we really need an advertising platform that reacts to who we are, our preferences or mood? What will happen to those happy accidents where you discover something new?
